Autologous transfusion is the transfusion of a person's own blood back into his or her body.

Although not risk free, autologous blood is regarded by many as the safest form of Blood Transfusion.

Exclusive use of a patient’s own blood eliminates reactions due to donor recipient incompatibility and precludes exposure to transfusion transmitted infection.
