How to find your way around the site

There are three options to help you navigate around the site:

  • the menu on the left hand side of all pages
  • the search facility at the top of all pages
  • the site map at the top of all pages

Using the navigation menu

Click once on a title in the menu to show all the content sub-headings of that area. Double click on any title to go to that area of content.

The Donor Selection Guidelines have their own index. If you select any of the five main sections listed on the welcome page of The Donor Selection Guidelines the alphabet will appear on the left hand side of the page. To find a subject, click on the letter required and a list of all subjects beginning with that letter will appear beneath the alphabet. Scroll through the list and single-click on the topic you are looking for.

Using the search facility

Use the search button at the top of all pages to find a specific topic. The ā€˜i’ icons on the search page provide information on how to use the search facility.

Using the site map

The site map button at the top of each page links to a map showing the structure of the whole site. Double clicking on any of the entries in the site map will take you to that area of the site.

How to obtain the best from our web site

Browser requirements

To enjoy all of the features of this website we recommend you use Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5.0 or later. You can download Microsoft Explorer free from:

Because the site uses JavaScript for some tasks such as page printing you need to allow your browser to run JavaScript.

Best view size

The site is best viewed at a screen resolution in excess of 850 x 620 pixels. To maximise the viewing area you may wish to turn off the button bars on your browser.

PDF files

Some material is provided as Portable Document Files (PDF). To view or work with PDFs Adobe Reader (or similar) software (version 4.0 or higher) is needed. If you do not have a PDF Reader installed on your PC, you can download a free version from the Acrobat website:

The Acrobat site also provides information, tutorials and advice on how to make best use of PDFs.

ZIP files

Some files provided are "self extracting, compressed files" in the zip format. To download these, right-click on the link provided, select 'Save Target As' then save the file to a place of your convenience. Once downloaded, go to the location where you saved the file and double click on it. The file will be automatically extracted to a folder of your choice.

Refresh updated pages

Some Internet Service Providers (ISPs) store frequently accessed pages on local servers to speed-up general page access. This process is called "caching". Efficient caching software should upgrade the local page when a new version is provided.

If you think you are viewing an outdated page, or if you visit a page which may be updated frequently, you can "force" your local server to update the page by holding the [Ctrl] key down and pressing the [F5] key.
