North East Regional Transfusion Committee (RTC)
The North East Regional Transfusion Committee aims to support transfusion within the region through the promotion of good practice guidelines, audit and education. The RTC meets on a four monthly basis at the Newcastle NHSBT Centre. The committee is supported by three permanent subgroups:
- Regional Transfusion Team (RTT)
- Newcastle Blood Centre Users Group (Chair: Chris Elliott)
- Transfusion Practitioners group
Smaller working parties are convened to discuss specialist transfusion issues as required by the RTC committee.

Terms of Reference:
Remit
The overall objective of the Regional Transfusion Committee’s Regional Transfusion Team (RTT) is to support hospital transfusion practice by steering educational activities and audits initiated by the Regional Transfusion Committee.
RTT members
Adil Iqbal, Hazel Tinegate, Denise Watson, Robin Coupe, Sue Wardle and Janice Robertson
Working Arrangements
The RTT will be accountable to the RTC. It will be chaired by the RTC Chair or Deputy. The RTT will be responsible for the day to day management of the RTC and will lead projects as agreed by the RTC. The RTT will develop project groups with other interested parties within the region to progress any agreed RTC projects. The RTT will meet at least three times a year, between RTC meetings.
Term of Members
Current post holders would be expected to remain members of the working group during their term of office.
Secretariat
The secretariat will be provided by NHS Blood and Transplant.
