The National Comparative Audit of Blood Transfusion is a national programme of clinical audits that aims to look at the quality of the administration of blood to patients and also at the practice of prescribing blood and blood components. National Comparative Audit Reports
In addition to national audits the RTC has a strong regional audit programme (pdf 8KB). The RTC also reviews NHSBT performance through tabled 'NHSBT quality reports' which cover:
- products mis-grouped
- SHOT and near-miss reports
- patient adverse events: initiated by Trusts and NHSBT
- various data on red cell and platelet components
