Welcome to the East Midlands RTC
NEWS Patient Blood Management
In response to the Department of Health's Patient Blood Management initiative the East Midlands RTC has formed a Patient Blood Management group.
The East Midlands and Yorkshire & The Humber RTCs are holding a joint Patient Blood Management event on 25 April 2013 at The Source in Sheffield. This event is for senior Trust representatives and aims to demonstrate patient benefits and potential cost savings for their organisations.
Regional FFP Audit
As the recent national audit showed significant inappropriate use of FFP a new working group has been established to look at FFP usage. It will conduct a retrospective audit using 20 consecutive FFP transfusions between 1st February and 30th April 2013.
Training DVD
The East Midlands Transfusion Practitioner group has devised, acted in, and produced a training DVD entitled 'Criminal Transfusion Investigation' with the help of a media student from Leicester de Montford University. Copies cost £7 and can be bought using this order form.
Get involved!
The East Midlands Regional Transfusion Committee invites Hospital Transfusion Committees (HTCs) and Hospital Transfusion Teams to send more than one representative to future RTC meetings. Members can be from any professional group, as selected by their HTC. The RTC will meet 3 times a year and themed educational sessions which promote good transfusion practice will be held before future RTC meetings.
We aim to make your local RTC site the first place you think of looking online for transfusion related information. The site includes these areas:
If you have material you would like published on the site please contact Odette Colgrave or Kath Hearnshaw the East Midlands RTC website representatives. If you have ideas about other information you would like to see on the East Midlands RTC site please contact Sheena Cameron, Website Development Manager.
